The members and adherents of Bloordale United Church are busily preparing to welcome visitors to our unique round Sanctuary which, for the first time, is going to be one of the venues for this year’s Doors Open Toronto. For the past sixty years we have been hosting many groups and activities for the Markland Wood community in western Etobicoke, and now in this special anniversary year, we wish to extend an invitation to everyone in the wider community to visit us during the Doors Open weekend, May 26th and 27th, 2018.
The hours will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. We are located at 4258 Bloor Street West, just west of highway 427, there is a large parking lot behind the church and the building is fully accessible with an elevator and an accessible washroom.
We have made some renovations in recent years which have made our Sanctuary a very convenient rental venue for concerts and/or piano or guitar-type musical recitals.
During the Doors Open weekend four local artists will be exhibiting their work in a sitting room setting in room 15.
The Esprit Chamber Choir, an award-winning choir under the direction of Mervin Fick, will be presenting The Italian Tour on Saturday, May 26th, at 2:00 p.m. This concert will preview music that Esprit will be performing in Italy in July.
The Bloordale Choir, also under the direction of Mervin Fick, will be presenting Seasons of Music on Sunday, May 27th, at 1:00 p.m. These are special events that are not to be missed!
At several other times during the weekend, we will be offering 20 minute recitals of a variety of styles of music played on a Celtic harp.
Do come by for a visit!
